Thanksgiving Thankfulness

Thanksgiving offers us the best opportunity for some wonderful time with family and friends.

It also makes us think of all that we are thankful for. I’m so thankful to live and work in such an amazing community. This is my 13th year at Lock Box Self Storage and when I think about all the people, my heart is filled with amazing memories and connections.

The holiday rush can make it easier to get distracted and miss out on special moments. Lock Box Self-Storage is here to help you with organizing your life throughout the year.

More Kitchen Space

This time of year, makes our kitchens feel small. Keeping the pantry, cupboards and refrigerator organized will help make sure we know what we have. To create more storage space, pack up countertop appliances and other kitchen accessories that you don’t often use and relocate them to your storage unit.

All your holiday platters and trays, cheese boards, and other key serving pieces for the holiday can be stacked together in an artful way to create a countertop decoration. Then they will be right where you need them for your holiday celebrations.

Do you have extra floor space in your kitchen? A beautiful wicker basket can be used to corral all of your cutting boards and baking sheets. A tiered shelf with baskets is the perfect place to store extra potatoes, onions, apples, and other holiday food items and you won’t have to worry about keeping it out of sight.

Rethink the Pantry

Look at donating boxes and canned foods that you have not consumed or can easily replace after the holidays. The local food pantry, or a family in need will surely appreciate extra food donations before the holidays.

Restock those shelves with canned pumpkin, chicken and turkey stock, cranberry sauce, and bottles of champagne, mineral water, and sparkling cider. If you love to bake, double-check that your ingredients are not past their expiration dates.

Make sure to Ask for Holiday Helpers!

With all our skills, having helpers during the holiday entertaining will let us enjoy more of these special times. Holiday meals with linens, place settings, centerpieces, food, drinks, and dessert can be split up between people coming to your dinner.

Set out your linens, dishes, and silverware out ahead of time so that you are not constantly being interrupted to explain where you keep things in your cabinets. Toss a label in each serving dish so that your holiday helpers know which pieces go with the foods that are you are serving.

Make sure to ask for help so you can enjoy the holidays!

What is your favorite thing about the holidays? For many, it’s the food, seeing family and friends, watching football, and helping people. Even though everyone celebrates differently, the holidays help us remember just how much everyone means to us.

This year know that we are thankful for our Mount Juliet family. Happy Thanksgiving
